Rickey Deubel Joins Bulls Staff

UB welcomes Edinboro alum Ricky Deubel to the staff as an Assistant Coach for the 2010-2011 season. Deubel was a four-year starter at nationally-ranked Edinboro, compiling an overall record of 103-48 while three times earning an invite to the national championships. A native of Kenston, OH, Deubel was a three-time Ohio state finalist and two-time state champion. He would be named the state's Most Valuable Wrestler in 2004 and also claimed a senior national championship title.

At UB, Deubel will work with the Bulls' lightweight wrestlers, while also assisting in recruiting and UB's club program and summer camps. He graduated in December from Edinboro with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education.

“Ricky will be a fantastic addition to our coaching staff,” said Beichner. “He has a tremendous wrestling pedigree, is extremely energetic and passionate about the sport and will fill a huge void by being able to work directly with our talented young lightweights. His roots in Ohio can assist us in recruiting and he gives us another coach who has competed at the highest level of intercollegiate wrestling and wants to give back to the sport.”

Deubel has served as an assistant coach at the high school level at General McLane HS in McKean, PA and Mayfield (OH) High School and has volunteered for four years at the the Bruce Baumgartner World Class Wrestling Camp. He has also frequently served as a volunteer coach in his hometown of Kenston, as well as for the Ohio National Wrestling Team.
