The University at Buffalo Wrestling program is developing our very first Blog and we are very excited to start sharing our story with more people.

UB is a very large and prestigious research institution located approximately 20 minutes from downtown Buffalo and Niagara Falls. We have two campuses approximately 4.5 miles apart from each other. The south campus is where our professional schools are located (medical, dental, physical therapy etc.) and the north campus is primarily where our undergrad students attend classes. The north campus is developed on approximately 1,200 acres of land. We have three lakes, a bike path and many beautiful new apartment complexes spread out around the campus. We also have a very diverse group of students and professors, giving our campus a very multinational feeling. More about the UB campus in the future, and I will probably add some nice pictures and maybe a video or two as I learn how to fully use the blog.

The wrestling program has been around for a little over 75 years. Our program has been associated with the NCAA at the Division III, II and I level over the past 75 years. Along with 21 other sports, we compete at the Division I level with the best of the best. The football program was elevated to the Division I-A status approximately 9 years ago. They have recently achieved unparalleled success thanks in part to our fantastic coach - Turner Gill. Coach Gill lead our program to our first ever Mid American Conference Championship in 2008 -GO BULLS!! I'm sure there is more to great things to come from our football program!

Last year we caped off a very challenging season by qualifying four wrestlers to the Division I National Championships in st. Louis. Jimmy Hamel - 197 lbs., Mickey Moran - 184 lbs., Nate Rock - 174 lbs., and Desmond Green - 149 lbs. We are all extremely proud of these four young me!. Two of the national qualifiers; Nate and Mickey were seniors last year and will be moving on. The other two will be back for more! Jimmy Hamel will be with the bulls for another two years while Desi Green has three years of eligibility left. We are looking forward to future success with these young and talented men!!

Desi and Jimmy were also All-Americans (freestyle) at the University National Championships this past season- both placing 7th. We also had an All-American in Greco at the University National Championships - Dylan Dabolt.

We are excited to share interesting news and facts about our program...please tune in to learn more.
